Air Conditioner Problems
Air Conditioner Problems? You’re not the only one.
In the summer your air conditioner is likely the most used appliance, and probably the most important too.
There are a few homeowners who run their air conditioner on the lowest setting possible after months or years of not having it serviced.
That creates a few air conditioning problems, as your HVAC unit requires maintenance a couple times a year.
Here are a couple signs to check for if you’re experiencing air conditioner problems.
Air Conditioner Problems – AC Refrigerant Leak
The air conditioner refrigerant is also known as Freon. The main role of your air conditioner refrigerant is to cool the air within your air conditioning unit.
Leaks reduce efficiency which means you will need to top-up the refrigerant. Careful not to go overboard with the amount of refrigerant as this could cause other problems to your unit.
Dirty AC Filter
How often are you changing out your ac filter? A clogged air filter restricts the airflow and decreases efficiency.
The ac filter plays an important role in keeping the airflow clean and free from dust and pollutants.
Get in the habit of switching out your ac filter every 60 days. The easiest way is to set a reminder or put it on your calendar!
Frozen Evaporator Coil
When your air conditioner stops working, chances are you have a frozen evaporator coil. This is caused by your ac unit not receiving enough air to operate.
You’ll notice sheets of ice accumulating on the coil and it’s important to let it thaw. The best approach to this problem is to stop using the unit.
AC Fan Failure
If the fan in your HVAC unit outside your house isn’t operating properly, it could lead to problems in your ac compressor and it could trip the safety load.
